Ariana Grande: BBC Making an Hour-long Special About the Pop Star

*The BBC has announced that they are making an hour-long Ariana Grande special later this year, featuring an in-depth interview with English television presenter and model Davina McCall and live performances of material from her new album ‘Sweetener,” NME reports.

The publication notes that the as-yet-untitled show is filming on September 7, and will be broadcast on BBC One at an as-yet unspecified date later this year.

McCall said of the pop star: “Ariana Grande is such an incredible talent. She’s very funny and incredibly kind and has achieved so much already in her career. I’m really excited about talking to her and, of course, hearing some of her amazing music.”

Grande was at the center of a #dressgate controversy following her tribute to Aretha Franklin at the late singer’s funeral on August 31 (in case you missed it, watch the clip above).

While she delivered a stunning cover of Franklin’s famous 1967 hit ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” Grande was trending on social media for wearing a short black dress that many dubbed “inappropriate” and disrespectful.”

Grande also reminisced at the ceremony about the time she spent with Franklin, saying “It was an honor to have met her.”

In the wake of the funeral, many criticized eulogist Bishop Charles Ellis for ‘groping’ the singer and joking that her name sounds like “something at Taco Bell”.

Ellis has since issued an apology: “Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar but again, I apologize…I hug all the female artists and the male artists.”

“Everybody that was up, I shook their hands and hugged them. That’s what we are all about in the church. We are all about love,” he added.
