That’s exactly what happened recently when these two sat down to discuss West’s new project. That’s right, the full interview between Ye and Uncle Charla is now available for your listening pleasure.
We’re talking nearly two hours of yukking it up between these two, so there’s no doubt that Kanye will open up about a variety of topics, past, present, and future.
Right from the start, Kanye opens up about his “breakdown,” which he prefers to refer to as a “breakthrough.” He reflects on feeling overwhelmed by a sense of competition, and cites the initial commercial response to “The Life Of Pablo,” which failed to match the sheer ubiquity of “Graduation.”
“To put that same amount if not more work into a piece of work, and then you used to it coming out like Graduation where everything is everywhere, it’s frustrating. Ever since the Taylor Swift moment, it’s never been the same, the connection with radio…It was much harder after that.”

Approximately twenty minutes in, Charlamagne asks Kanye if he went too far talking about Jay-Z’s family.
“It depends on how you look at it,” was Kanye’s response. He adds:
“If we’re family, if we’re brothers…that’s my family. If we’re business associates and this, then it’s too far. Respectfully…I gotta say, I was hurt about them not coming to the wedding. I understand they was going through some things…If it’s family, you’re not gonna miss a wedding.”
