BET’s ABFF Awards Bring Out the Celebs for the Red Carpet (EUR Exclusive – Watch!)

*A brutal rainstorm and gridlock traffic weren’t enough to deter some of Hollywood’s biggest and brightest African American performers from gathering to participate in BET’s 2nd annual American Black Film Festival Honors awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel (Beverly Hills, California).

The ABFF Honors – which will air on Wednesday, February 22 at 8pm Eastern on BET and Centric – shines a light on black excellence in cinema and television.

This year’s slate of honorees included “Insecure” creator Issa Rae, NWA Biopic director F. Gary Grey, rapper-turned-actress Queen Latifah, Empire’s Terrance Howard, and the iconic actor/filmmaker Denzel Washington.

While cameras flashed and nattily-dressed reporters from various digital outlets wrestled to gain position on the red carpet, a distinguished lineup of multi-talented men and women strolled across the long winding pathway, including the ceremony’s host, Regina Hall, Latoya Luckett, Nia Long, Lorenz Tate, Maxwell, Bill Duke, Omari Hardwick, Common, Isiah Washington, Cicily Tyson, Anika Noni Rose, BET president/CEO Deborah Lee, and a slew of others.

Look for the American Black Film Festival Honors to air on Wednesday, February 22 on BET and Centric at 8pm Eastern.

ABFF Honors History

The ABFF Honors: A Celebration of Hollywood is an annual awards gala which stems from the American Black Film Festival (ABFF), which for two decades has been recognized among the standard-bearers of cinematic excellence. The ceremony pays tribute to individuals that have made distinguished contributions to American culture through the world of film and television, as well as those who champion diversity and inclusion in Hollywood.

The 2016 show premiered on BET and Centric, February 23. Hosted by Mike Epps, the event featured a presentation of eight awards, including Film of the Year, Television Show of the Year, Excellence in the Arts, Rising Star and the Hollywood Legacy Award. Invited guests to this private affair included artists and other prominent members of the Hollywood community. The evening began with red carpet arrivals, followed by an elegant and spirited awards dinner and after-party.
