*Uh oh! Could it be that a certain community activist was lying when he said he saw video of Kenneka Jenkins walk into a hotel freezer all by herself?
On Friday, Attorney Larry Rogers Jr., who is representing the Jenkins’ family, said Rosemont, IL police have not shown them any video evidence showing Kenneka Jenkins entering a hotel walk-in freezer, where she was discovered dead last weekend.
“Despite requests for all evidence, we have received only snippets of video, none of which shows Kenneka Jenkins walking into a freezer,” Attorney Rogers said in a statement. “The family has not been provided any video or other evidence of Kenneka Jenkins walking into a freezer.
Here is video below purportedly of Kenneka Jenkins at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. We’re also not sure if it’s the same clip her family saw. In any event, she appears to be in a dazed, maybe intoxicated state of being. She is shown wandering around, but in this clip, we don’t see her actually walk into the freezer.
“Serious questions remain as to how she ended up in a Crowne Plaza Hotel freezer and why it took a day and a half for the hotel to find Kenneka.”
As we previously reported, Jenkins, a Chicago resident, was found in the freezer early Sunday morning after disappearing from a party in a room at the hotel. It should be noted that the Rosemont Police Dept. is treating the case as a death investigation, not a homicide probe.
And then there’s the fact that online, Jenkins’ death has become the focus of fevered conjecture, with people using Facebook videos apparently taken during the hotel room party to come up with theories as to what may have happened. Most have come to the conclusion that the 19-year-old was murdered.
And as we reported yesterday (09-14-17), Andrew Holmes, a Chicago community activist, said he watched the surveillance video and it showed Jenkins entering the freezer alone. It was his attempt to end speculation of foul play.

Now this is where thing get interesting. Even after the family said today that THEY didn’t see any evidence of Kennka walking into the freezer – in the clips they were given by the police – Holmes is sticking to his story.
“My point was — and I’m going to stand by it — I didn’t see anyone downstairs behind her,” he said. “I didn’t see anyone in front of her. I didn’t see anyone trying to force her back there. That’s my point and I’ll stick to it.”
Holmes said he was convinced no one else forced Jenkins into the area where she died.
“The important part is we all wanted to know: Did anybody call her down there?” he said. “Did anybody force her down there? Was there anybody on the other side of the room when she got down there? And the answer to that is no.”
Later Thursday, at a protest outside the Crowne Plaza, Jenkins’ mother said she felt misrepresented by Holmes and other activists.
