*Reverend Run Simmons is returning to television as Netflix has ordered a scripted comedy series based on his family life.

The music icon will star in the series alongside his wife Justine Simmons. The couple previously starred in the MTV reality series “Run’s House” from 2005 to 2009.

Rev. Run will portray himself in the semi-fictionalized series about the rapper and his post-hip-hop life, The Hollywood Reporter writes.

Simmons and his wife self-financed the series — leading to a 10-episode, straight-to-series order at Netflix.

Per Deadline:

The multi-camera sitcom, created by Jeremy Bronson (“The Mayor”), started off as one the biggest multi-camera sales last development season, which ABC landed in October 2016 in a very competitive situation with a put pilot commitment plus a big penalty. It did not get a pilot order, but, based on the strong interest the pitch had received by multiple networks, producing companies Amblin TV and ABC Studios pulled together resources and used the penalty money to finance a pilot presentation, which was filmed on the set of Black-ish.
