*Singer Kevin Ross has premiered the brand new music for “Pick You Up,” the second single from his debut album, The Awakening, available March 24. The track comes after the success of the album’s first single, “Long Song Away.”
“We were not made to live alone, but often times we feel like no one understands us,” the singer tells VIBE. “‘Pick You Up’ is a narrative based off of a certain time in my life where I felt alone. Like there was no way out of my circumstances. But it was like God gave me this song not only to encourage myself but to encourage others to stay strong and steadfast. We all are pieces of thread woven into the fabric of life. Which means we need each other in more ways than what we realize.”

Shortly after graduating from Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music with a degree in songwriting, Ross went straight to work with A-list R&B stars like Jamie Foxx, Usher, Akon, Nicki Minaj and others. This resulted in Ross inking a record deal with Motown Records and releasing his first EP, Dialogue in the Grey, in 2014.
Fans can catch Ross on Ro James’ XIX tour, which began on March 2 at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C. Upcoming dates include a show at The Promontory in Chicago on March 9. Fans can also pre-order The Awakening here.
