*”Women Laughing Alone With Salad“ is a mixed bag of the psychological and sociological values and often unrealistic expectations that are visited upon women, and the role that they play with themselves & their significant others.
Except when these topics are broached by writer Sheila Callaghan, the result is a full entree of utterly hilarious scenarios, psycho-babble, sexual fantasies and therapeutic contemplation that unfolds in a brilliantly directed and choreographed evening of shear joy!
Salad is a metaphor for the flirtatious relationship that women have with the lure of perfection, and the mega-marketing machine that fuels the quest for eternal youth and female flawlessness.
Thanks to director Neel Keller, scene designer Keith Mitchell and their creative staff, this show makes for the ultimate girls night out and it’s a tongue in cheek chuckle for the men brave enough to laugh and sigh in agreement as the audience watches these women who undoubtedly reflect someone who could be critically close.
David Clayton Rogers is a perfect anchor for the talented threesome that morph effortlessly through a myriad of whimsical characters. Three cheers for Lisa Banes, Nora Kirkpatrick and Dinora Z. Walcott.
