*Whether Will Smith has any ill will toward Chris Rock or not regarding his comments on Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith is still a mystery.

What can be said is that Smith is practicing his right to remain silent.

Upon spotting the rapper-actor when he left a restaurant in New York City, TMZ questioned Smith to get his thoughts on Rock taking shots at Pinkett Smith. Despite the opportunity to speak on the situation, Smith stayed silent by not saying anything to the gossip site. Instead, he just ignored the TMZ videographer and kept walking to his vehicle.

Smith’s silent treatment marks the latest development in the aftermath of Rock’s infamous opening monologue at the 88th Academy Awards this past Sunday. The opening is noted for Rock addressing the #OscarsSoWhite controversy throughout as he went in on Pinkett Smith for boycotting the Oscars when her husband as well as other entertainers of color were not nominated for the second straight year. Prior to the announcement of the 2016 Oscar nominees, Smith was considered a shoo in to be recognized with a nomination from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his performance in the film “Concussion.”

“Jada got mad, Jada says she’s not coming, protesting, I’m like — doesn’t she have a TV show? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited,” Rock said.

Since the Oscars Rock’s time as host and his monologue have received mixed reviews. Despite Smith remaining tight-lipped about the situation, Tyrese Gibson – as we reported – didn’t hold his tongue as he recently took to Instagram to defend Pinkett Smith for boycotting Hollywood’s biggest night and slam Rock for making light of the “Gotham” star’s activism.
