President Obama Will Travel to Baton Rouge to Assess Flood Damage

*After being slammed for deciding to stay on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard in lieu of visiting Louisiana amid its worst flooding since Hurricane Katrina, the White House has confirmed that President Obama will travel to the state on Aug. 23 to assess the damage and meet with responders and victims.

The news comes hours after GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump visited flood victims in the state with his running mate Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

He was welcomed by the crowd in Baton Rouge. “We knew you’d be here Mr. Trump,” one supporter yelled out…twice.

The catastrophic flood is now the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Hurricane Sandy four years ago, the Red Cross said.

At least 13 people have died across five parishes. And with more rain forecast, the destruction could get worse.
