*Nick Gordon’s lawyer says he feels vindicated by the autopsy findings of his late girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown, believing it shows he has nothing to do with her death – as some members of her family believe.
As previously reported, morphine, cocaine, weed and prescription drugs were found in Brown’s body when she was discovered underwater in a bathtub, causing brain damage that left her in a coma for six months.
A source suggested to People.com that the findings contradict claims stated in the Brown family’s wrongful death suit against Gordon. They allege she “died due to a violent altercation” with Gordon and that he “injected her with a toxic mixture” – allegations Gordon has denied.
“She had drugs in her system, and this wasn’t a cocktail,” says the source. “Nick didn’t inject drugs into her.”
According to the autopsy report released Friday, Brown’s body showed signs of acute injury; depressions in her skull; bruises on her arms and thighs; and dozens of “well-healed scars on the head and neck, torso, and extremities.” And a toxicology report showed marijuana, alcohol, “a cocaine-related substance,” sedative and anti-anxiety medications and morphine were found in her system.
The source continues: “Sadly, Bobbi Kristina used drugs for a long time, and she drowned in her bathtub. It’s a tragedy, but Nick didn’t kill her.”
Although the autopsy report said investigators could not determine if her death was intentional or accidental, Nick’s legal team, led by Jose Baez, says it’s proof that he was not involved, and they are angry that prosecutors kept it under seal for nearly a year, only until a judge on Thursday granted a request filed by media organizations to unseal it.
