*Music mogul L.A. Reid has dropped $18 million on a luxury estate in Bel-Air (California), according to real estate sources not authorized to comment publicly on the sale.
The multi-level home boasts oceans views, and the LA Times notes that it includes “open and vaulted interiors,” that are “set off by black granite walls, brilliant chrome accents and white oak floors.”
The newspaper reported that the 11, 246 square-foot home with seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms was first listed in the summer of 2015 at $27.5 million, and was more recently reduced to $20 million. The home includes a massive living room divided by a two-sided fireplace, a gym, an office, a 300-bottle wine cellar and a home theater with a wet bar. The chef’s kitchen has light wood cabinets, two islands and a bar.

The master suite has another fireplace and a view of the grounds. There are three powder rooms and four fireplaces, two floating glass staircases and an elevator service each of the home’s three floors. There’s also a an infinity-edge swimming pool, and adjacent to the pool is an outdoor kitchen/bar and a spa. A large terrace-balcony extends off the second level.
Reid has worked with A-list talent such as Janet Jackson, Usher, Mariah Carey, Outkast and Sean “Puffy” Combs. He co-founded LaFace Records in the late 1980s and later headed up Def Jam Music Group for more than a decade before becoming the chairman of Epic Records, a division of Sony Records. He served as a judge on the television music competition show “The X Factor” in 2011-12.
Reid is reportedly worth $300 million. He recently received an award from BET Honors for The Business of Entertainment Award. L.A. is the co-author of the New York Times bestseller “Sing to Me: My Story of Making Music, Finding Magic, and Searching for Who’s Next.”
