*Rev. Al Sharpton doesn’t want any money going to rebuild Haiti from the devastation of Hurricane Matthew until someone explains what happened to the $10 billion that was meant to rebuild Haiti after the earthquake in 2010.
“What happened to the money that was given the last time? We need to look into it,” Sharpton says. “I don’t know where the blame lies.”
Page Six notes how six years after that quake, Haiti’s infrastructure is still in shambles, and tens of thousands are still homeless because little housing has been rebuilt.
Some say Hillary Clinton is to blame. She was secretary of state when the magnitude 7.0 earthquake destroyed Port-au-Prince, and Bill Clinton was a UN special envoy to Haiti.
Donald Trump claimed Tuesday in Florida that the Clintons “ripped off Haiti” and said, “We should never forget how Bill and Hillary Clinton handled Haiti the last time out.”

Bill Clinton is still asking for money. On Oct. 4, he tweeted, “Praying for everyone impacted by #HurricaneMatthew. Here’s how you can help in Haiti,” with a link to the Clinton Foundation website.
Sharpton has criticized both presidential nominees because neither Clinton or Trump mentioned Haiti during the second presidential debate in St. Louis in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
“To have a catastrophe in this hemisphere that took a thousand lives, and not to mention it, is to marginalize those people,” he said. “If almost 1,000 people faced a natural disaster anywhere in the world, they would have began the debate by saying, ‘Let’s pray for the people in that area,’” Sharpton said.
Al has also warned the public to ignore solicitations for cash to help rebuild the island nation.
“We don’t want a dime — just clothing, food and supplies,” Sharpton said.
