Dr. Conrad Murray: ‘Prince’s Doctor Needs A Good Lawyer’

*He should know. In an exclusive interview airing on Tuesday, INSIDE EDITION’s Lisa Guerrero speaks with Dr. Conrad Murray, who was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson. He is now breaking his silence to INSIDE EDITION about the recent death of Prince, who reportedly may have overdosed after years of addiction to pain medication.

Although no cause of death has been announced and there are no allegations of wrongdoing, Dr. Murray says that he has advice for the doctor who treated Prince.

“I would say clearly he needs an attorney, and a good one, because we have what we call ‘regular justice’ and ‘celebrity justice,’” he says.

Dr. Murray, who spent two years in prison and lost his license to practice medicine after he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death, tells INSIDE EDITION that Prince’s doctor should not face the same punishment that he did. He states:

“On the bottle there are clear instructions. If Prince as an adult chooses to take 15 pills every six hours versus two pills every six hours, in the absence of a doctor, do you hold him responsible?”

Dr. Murray goes on to claim that Michael Jackson was not a fan of Prince.

“Michael didn’t like him,” he tells INSIDE EDITION. “I felt there may have been an inherent competition. I think Michael felt that he had always set himself apart. I think he thought Prince was a want-to-be.”

At Murray’s 2011 trial, the judge called his treatment of Jackson a “disgrace to the medical profession,” but Murray still maintains he was not responsible for Jackson’s death.

“I was not present when Michael Jackson met his demise,” he says. “When I encountered Michael in the state he was, I did everything I could to resuscitate him.”

He adds, “I’ve lost everything. Everything I’ve amassed has been taken from me as a result of an unjust verdict. I am and I remain an innocent man.”
