Trisch L. Smith Receives ‘Top 100 Influential Blacks in Corporate America’ Honor

*Trisch L. Smith, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Diversity & Inclusion at Edelman, a leading communications marketing firm, has been named one of Savoy magazine’s 2016 “Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America.”

The distinguished list of honorees was release in the publication’s 15th Anniversary Spring issue, which hit newsstands on March 1, 2016.

The Savoy Top 100 is the definitive listing of African-American executives, influencers and achievers proactively impacting corporate America.

Edelman, which is the only communications firm represented on this year’s list, strives to create a vibrant place to work that welcomes, values and maximizes a host of backgrounds and perspectives. During her 15 year tenure with the top agency, Smith has managed stakeholder outreach, strategic positioning, reputation management and public affairs campaigns for a host of Fortune 500 corporations, non-profits and associations seeking to engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including Chevron, Starbucks, United Negro College Fund, Girls Scouts of the USA and Walmart, among several others.

Smith also helps lead the firm’s Multicultural client practice, and provides senior counsel to a wide range of organizations to protect, promote and evolve their brands and effectively engage diverse thought leaders, media, elected officials and consumers. She sits on the Board of Directors of the National Black Child Development Institute and ColorComm: Women of Color in Communications. In 2014, she was appointed to the Maryland Public Broadcasting Commission. Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Morgan State University and a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Selection of the “Top 100 Blacks in Corporate America” begins by examining the landscape of spheres of influence impacting Savoy’s readership including: corporate sector influence, scholastic achievement, career growth, community outreach and recognition. The information received from over  500 prospective candidates is pre-screened by the selection committee that includes Savoy’s editorial board, community leaders, and representatives from the academic and business arenas. The committee reviewed information on executives from an extensive group of industries ranging from banking and finance to healthcare and technology. After reviewing all of the profiles, the field of candidates is fine-tuned to the 2016 “Top 100 Most Influential” listing based upon their exemplary professional accomplishments, community achievements and ability to inspire others.
