*”Empire” fans are about to meet another member of Cookie Lyon’s family as Vivica A. Fox confirmed that she will appear in season two of the addictive hit show as the oldest sister of Taraji P. Henson‘s popular character.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Fox’s character, who will debut in episode 8, will be in search of her younger sister for reasons unknown. Although viewers got introduced to Cookie’s middle sister Carol (Tasha Smith) last season, “Empire” executive producer Ilene Chaiken told EW that, “Cookie’s other family members are troublesome to say the least.”
The addition of Cookie’s other sister shines a light on comments made by “Empire” co-creator Lee Daniels who previously alluded to being interested in a spin-off showcasing Cookie’s family when she was younger so it’s possible this could be a test for the audience’s interest in Cookie’s relatives.
Taking to Instagram Wednesday (Sept. 9), Fox confirmed her arrival to “Empire” as she stated that she will indeed be playing Cookie Lyon’s oldest sister.
