*The Obamas threw an overnight campfire on the White House lawn Tuesday for about 50 Girl Scouts from across the country – all in support of the First Lady’s Let’s Move Outdoors campaign, an offshoot of the Let’s Move campaign that is designed to get young people to exercise outside.

President Obama, sporting a pair of jeans, made a surprise appearance at the South Lawn gathering, where the girls were sitting around a makeshift campfire comprised of lanterns.

“What are you guys doing in my yard?” he joked to the campers. “When did you guys show up? You guys aren’t going to be making a racket, are you?”

Sitting on bales of hay, the president and the Scouts traded stories and sang campfire songs.

Afterward, one of the group’s leaders suggested the president was “our sister, too,” according to a White House pool report. The commander-in-chief corrected her, saying he was their “brother.”

The leader then told Obama he’s “very in touch with your feminine side. That’s what makes you so wonderful.”

“Clearly,” Obama quipped back.

The president spent about 20 minutes with the young ladies, then told them he had to dip back inside. “I’ve got to work. I’m not allowed to have fun,” he said.

Following a group hug with the Girl Scouts, Obama joked, “You guys better clean up this mess — when I wake up in the morning.”

“I’m teasing. You guys will be still be here,” he added.

Amid heavy rains and thunder, organizers had to move the South Lawn sleepover inside. The fourth graders and their chaperones were hustled into a conference room in the office building next to the White House.
