*Many may not know that Harlem-born singer/songwriter Kelis moonlights as a certified chef, she even holds a degree from the esteemed Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in N.Y.C.
The 36-year-old recently released her cookbook “My Life on a Plate,” and now she tells Page Six that she’d love to appear on “Iron Chef.”
“I would love to do the show but … I cook at my leisure right now and I remember when I graduated from culinary school and when I was working on a line at a restaurant I was so fast because I was seasoned to be that way,” Kelis said, recalling what her life was like in 2008. “I’m not as fast as I was back then. I would need to get back into that frame of mind.”
“Those guys are beasts and they are so fast and so good,” she said. “I could be really creative, but definitely moving at my own pace right now. I definitely want to get my chops up.”
Kelis says that there’s no earthly mortal worthy of savoring her tasty morsels. Aside from her family, the “Milkshake” hitmaker says she’s got one guest in mind.
“The only person I could think of is Jesus,” she said with a laugh, adding that she’s unsure what she’d prepare. “We would have to talk about it.”
Kelis, who is mother to six-year-old son Knight Jones, (rapper Nas is his father), is expecting her second son any day now, and she revealed that Knight is excited about becoming a big brother.
“He’s over the moon,” she shared. “He feels like … the baby is more related to him than any of us. He just feels like it’s his baby … he’s all about it. I’m like great, I’m so glad you’re into this.”
