*Blame it on the rules for Killer Mike not being able to run for a seat on the Georgia state senate as a write-in candidate.
Addressing the matter on Twitter, the rapper broke the news of his failed bid to while hashing out details for his followers. In addition, Killer Mike thanked fans who were going to write him in under his real name (Michael Render) while urging folks to exercise their right to vote.
As it turned out, Killer Mike things would’ve been different had he officially entered the race as a “write in.” As he went about to rally votes on social media, it hit him that he is ineligible to put his bid in for the seat.
“I can’t run. BUT For the folks that were willing to Write in #MichaelRender Thank U so Much. I am gonna run one day and WE WILL WIN. However in Ga I wud have to officially enter as a “write in” vs being an Actual Write in (those are the breaks) but, I really felt it important to draw attention to this race,” the Run the Jewels entertainer tweeted Monday (June 15) as he urged folks to look at the bigger picture. “We have BIG Problems in education, schools and prison reform in Ga and I wanna see change. I wanna see Yall active in Local politics.”
With him being ineligible to run at this time, the door is open for Killer Mike to make another run for political office next year. Although the door is shut for him this year, that didn’t prevent Killer Mike from encouraging fans to exercise their right to vote on Tuesday (June 16) as he encouraged fans to “get & stay active and Run for office! “ in light of the fact that, “We need more New and fresh ideas & people!”

We need more New and fresh ideas & people!” Killer Mike expressed. “Now Tomorrow yall choose between two sisters, a Junior & a white indie (really republican and I’m cool with that too if he does the job so give him a look) I suggest yall Google them read up tonight and GO VOTE tomorrow! I will Run In the Future and We Will Win! Love and Respect Michael Render”
