BHERC Presents ‘Reel Black Men’ Short Film Festival on October 24

RBM_2015_TimelinePost-newDate

(Hollywood, CA) – The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) is honored to announce the “Reel Black Men” Short Film Festival on October 24, 2015 starting at 7:00 p.m. at Raleigh Studios, Chaplin Screening Room, 5300 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, California 90038 presenting 8 short films by male directors of African American ancestry, a Q&A and BHERC’s annual networking reception.

Join us for a riveting evening of short films featuring: “Some Torches Don’t Burn” (22:00 min.) by Chris Reese. The film examines progress in the African-American community since the civil rights era.

“Dee Loves The Girl” (7:00 min.) directed by Brian Lee is about a humiliating breakup and the chance love again with a librarian.

“Hold” (7:00 min.) by Eric Koleas is a post-apocalyptic world where one man burdened by his solitude discovers he is not alone.

“The Bus Stop (10:00 min.) by Kevin Brooks tells the story of a young boy who is tempted by a strange man at a bus stop.

“P.T.S.D.” (3:00 min.) by James Stallworth examines the devastating effects of life after Afghanistan.

“Beautiful Thorn” (15:00 min.) by Satie Gossett is about two women whose meeting sparks a secret love affair that slowly breaks one down and builds the other up. After ending the affair, one falls into a dark, familiar world… the only question now is, who will pay for it this time?

“Me, My Mom, and Dennis Rodman” (4:00 min.) by Jason Gilmore offers a hilarious tale of the time that the filmmaker met NBA Star Dennis Rodman as a teenager – and how his mom made the meeting stranger than it already was, and “Double Deal” (16:00 min.) by Doug Rollins. After an all-night poker game ends in a life or death situation, the twilight world offers a grand opportunity for saving grace.
