*Shonda Rhimes has convinced two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington to don his director’s hat for an episode of her ABC drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” reports TV Line.
Washington will helm episode nine of the medical drama’s 12th season, which will be penned by head writer Stacy McKee and is set to start production this month.
“Grey’s” will mark Washington’s TV directing debut. The actor has previously helmed two feature films: 2002’s “Antwone Fisher” and 2007’s “The Great Debaters.”
The Grey’s gig will also reunite him with longtime friend Debbie Allen, who recurs, directs and executive produces the series.
