*Twin sisters have filed a lawsuit against the LA-based cannabis brand Stiiizy, alleging that its products are contributing to a rise in cannabis-induced psychosis, particularly among California’s youth.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims that Stiiizy used deceptive marketing tactics to promote their high-potency products, which they argue contributed to a rise in hospitalizations in the state, KTLA reports. The lawsuit also accuses Stiiizy of selling THC vape pens and cartridges without proper warnings about the mental health risks.
One of the sisters, identified as Jane Doe 1, started using Stiiizy products as a freshman in high school. Lawyers said she was attracted to the brand’s brightly colored devices in its social media advertisements.
“After using these products, she quickly became addicted and started to experience extreme paranoia, delusions and attempted suicide twice in 2020 – once by running into oncoming traffic and again by swallowing a bottle of Tylenol,” lawyers said. “Her mental health issues became so debilitating that she dropped out of school.”
The other sister, Jane Doe 2, began using Stiiizy products exclusively after being exposed to their ads on social media in middle school. According to the lawsuit, she developed paranoia, intrusive thoughts, depression, and anxiety. She also engaged in self-harm.

“She continues to suffer from the trauma of her cannabis-induced psychosis, experiencing anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,” the suit alleges. “Unable to complete high school, she has struggled to find employment due to her psychiatric injuries.”
To help teens who suffer harm from cannabis vaping, the lawyers started the Cannabis Victims Law Center. More information can be found here.
“Stiizy’s conduct and products are causing young people to suffer cannabis-induced psychosis and driving an epidemic of CIP among California’s youth,” the suit states.
