*Season four of the hit STARZ crime drama Power Book III: Raising Kanan is set to challenge every major player in the series, but Marvin (London Brown) and Stefano (Tony Danza) might have the most unexpected alliance yet. The Power universe has always been about survival, loyalty, and betrayal, and with the stakes higher than ever, both characters are playing a dangerous game. But is this a true partnership, or are both men using each other to get ahead?
In an exclusive conversation with EUR, London Brown and Tony Danza opened up about their characters’ evolving relationship and what it means for the power dynamics in season four.
Tony Danza sees Stefano’s relationship with Marvin as layered, but at its core, there’s something paternal about it—at least for now.
“I think he likes Marvin a lot,” Danza explained. “I think it’s like a little bit of a father-son thing to it. There’s a lot of levels going on. Is it a master manipulation in the end? I guess so. But there’s a few other layers to it.”

Stefano is a seasoned crime boss, and while the mob operates under a different set of rules than Marvin, he’s also a businessman. His willingness to go with the flow might mean that Marvin is a useful asset to him—for now.
For Marvin, working with Stefano represents something bigger than just business—it’s his shot at independence.
After spending past seasons trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his sister Raq (Patina Miller), he’s now looking to step out on his own.
“Marvin would like to believe in this new kinship,” Brown shared. “More so just trying to escape being under Raq’s shadow. If this is the first reliable resource that he can get from up under Raq, then Marvin is willing to gamble that.”
But how much is he really willing to risk?
Marvin has been on a redemptive arc, attending therapy and working on his temper. But aligning with someone like Stefano could push him back into a cutthroat mentality. Brown, however, sees Marvin as someone who never fully changed—he just learned how to slow himself down.
“I don’t know if he’s backsliding. I think Marvin has always been himself,” Brown said. “Therapy didn’t remove who he was—it just slowed him down to consider other ways of going about things.”
That means if a situation calls for the old Marvin, he’s still very much in there. Stefano has built his empire playing by a certain set of rules, but with Raq, Kanan, and Marvin running things differently, will he be able to keep up?
“I think he’s smart enough to realize that he’s dealing with something different with Marvin, with Raq, with the whole organization,” Danza said. “He goes with the flow, but yeah, he has certain rules and regulations he lives by.”

His biggest blind spot? “Sometimes he thinks he knows more than he actually knows,” Danza admitted.
So what does this season look like for Marvin? London Brown put it simply:
“I think his mindset is ‘by any means necessary.’ Now, is that the best approach? In Marvin’s mind, it is. But that’s why these things always reset Marvin—because he can’t see past his own nose.”
With Stefano in his ear and Raq still a major power player, Marvin will have to choose whether he’s truly ready to lead—or if he’s just running from his past.
Season four premiers on March 7 on STARZ.
