*Paris Jackson is continuing her legal challenge against the executors of her late father Michael Jackson’s estate, disputing requests for additional legal fees and raising concerns about transparency.
Attorneys representing Paris Jackson filed court documents on February 26 in Los Angeles, pushing back against a recent move by the executors of Michael Jackson’s estate. According to MJ Live, her legal team characterized the executors’ motion as an unnecessary step that has done nothing but slow down the litigation.
The filing took direct aim at an anti-SLAPP motion the estate submitted in November 2025, arguing it introduced added time and cost without meaningfully advancing or resolving the case. Paris’ lawyers acknowledged the court ultimately granted that motion, but emphasized that it neither eliminated any of her claims nor changed the legal remedies she is pursuing.
As we reported earlier, the dispute centers on a $625,000 legal fee request from 2018. Paris’ complaint alleges that the estate’s law firms billed for “premium payments” for unrecorded attorney time without sufficient explanation.
“During this one six-month period alone in 2018, Executors request that the Court approve $625,000 in payments to three law firms for what they say is uncaptured time, without explanation as to why counsel was incapable of recording unbilled time, or why such a failure should not preclude payment,” the filing states. Paris has called the fees “lavish gratuities bestowed upon already well-compensated counsel” and is requesting a hearing to review the invoices.
The estate, managed by executors John Branca and John McClain, defended the payments, citing the lawyers’ expertise, negotiating skills, and knowledge of the entertainment industry, PEOPLE reported. They highlighted the attorneys’ role in securing a $287 million return on the estate’s EMI shares sold to Sony in 2018 as justification for the fees.
Now, the estate is seeking approval for more than $115,000 in additional legal fees related to the recent motion. Paris’ legal team argues the work behind those fees was unwarranted and has only added further strain to the estate’s resources.
