*K. Michelle, a platinum-selling R&B star, has ventured into country music with her bold single “Jack Daniel’s,” marking her as the first Black woman to collaborate with the iconic whiskey brand.
“This is me coming home,” said the Memphis native, whose 12 million social media followers eagerly awaited the track. Produced by Kristian Bush and Jeff Balding, the song, co-written with ERNEST, Jordan Dozzi, and Rocky Block, showcases her raw vocals and southern soul. She playfully calls the Tennessee whiskey the “only man she trusts.”
Raised in Memphis, where soul and country share roots, K. Michelle’s genre shift feels natural. “Country is in my blood. I was raised on southern soil in Memphis, Tennessee, where soul and country grew from the same roots,” she said. Her debut carries the same fearless lyricism that defined her R&B career, cementing her place among Black artists redefining country music.
The singer’s country journey began with hints in her 2023 album “I’m The Problem,” featuring the bonus track “Tennessee.” She also joined Jelly Roll and Fisk Jubilee Singers for “Love Can Build A Bridge” on “A Tribute To The Judds” and performed at the 2023 CMA Awards.
“This is my story, and I’m ready for the world to hear it,” she declared, embracing her trailblazing role.

K. Michelle’s multifaceted career spans five Billboard-charting albums, acting, and entrepreneurship, with her music scholarship for yodeling at Florida A&M highlighting her early country ties. Known for her candid storytelling, as seen in her 2013 album “Rebellious Soul,” she brings authenticity to her country pivot. With more music on the horizon, she’s poised to shake up Nashville’s scene.
