*The 2026 Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California, will see a heightened presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, as confirmed by Corey Lewandowski, a Department of Homeland Security adviser, The Hill reports.
This announcement follows the NFL’s decision to feature Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny as the halftime performer, a choice that has sparked controversy, as critics have noted that most of his songs aren’t even in English. Lewandowski emphasized the agency’s stance on immigration enforcement, stating, “There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else.”
He further warned, “We will find you. We will apprehend you. We will put you in a detention facility, and we will deport you. So know that that is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to what how it used to be.”

Lewandowski criticized the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny, claiming, “It’s so shameful that they’ve decided to pick somebody who just seems to hate America so much to represent them at the halftime game.”
He argued for more inclusive entertainment choices, stating, “But listen, we should be trying to be inclusive and not exclusive. There are plenty of great bands and entertainment people out there who could be playing at that show that would be bringing people together and not separating them.”
Bad Bunny expressed deep pride in his selection for the Super Bowl halftime show. In a statement, he said, “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown … this is for my people, my culture and our history.”
The controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s performance is compounded by his decision to exclude the United States from his upcoming world tour. He voiced concerns about performing in America, citing fears of ICE raids at his concerts. In an interview with i-D Magazine, he noted, “But there was the issue of — like, f‑‑‑ing ICE could be outside [my concerts]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
