The once-celebrated music mogul is currently awaiting trial on serious federal charges, including sex trafficking, while housed at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. Combs, 55, has remained behind bars since his September arrest, despite repeated efforts by his legal team to secure bail. Judges have consistently denied his release, citing concerns about witness tampering and public safety. On April 22, he again pleaded not guilty in federal court after prosecutors added a new charge under a superseding indictment.
Now confined to the jail’s 4 North unit, where conditions are slightly more lenient than other wings, Combs shares space with around 20 inmates, including notable figures like Sam Bankman-Fried, RadarOnline reports. Although far removed from the luxury of his former life, this dormitory-style unit provides basic comforts: a microwave, televisions, limited gym equipment, and a laptop (strictly for legal review, with no internet access).
Daily life is regimented. Combs wears a standard brown uniform, dines in a communal area, and is allowed to use his laptop from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. His access to phones is limited to 15-minute calls, though prosecutors allege he circumvented restrictions through other inmates and attempted to manipulate public opinion and contact witnesses–claims his lawyers deny.
Despite the limitations, Combs has found ways to stay connected. He reportedly orchestrated a video from his children for his birthday, which later surfaced on Instagram.

During the latest court session, a dispute arose over whether emails from an alleged victim should be disclosed to the defense, prompting Combs’ lawyers to seek additional time. Judge Arun Subramanian gave them 48 hours to formally request a delay, stating firmly, “We are a freight train moving towards trial.”
The trial is slated to kick off in early May. Jury selection will begin on April 28.
