*Snoop Dogg has taken to social media to kinda, sorta “respond” to the scorching criticism he’s facing for performing at Donald Trump’s “Crypto Ball” in Washington, D.C., a pre-inauguration event that drew a mix of celebrities and political figures.

The gala, organized to honor Trump’s support for cryptocurrency, featured Snoop as the headlining act alongside performers like Soulja Boy and Nelly.

The event attracted significant attention not only for its political undertones but also for the perceived hypocrisy of Snoop Dogg, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump in the past.

His fans were quick to remind him of his controversial 2017 music video in which he depicted a Trump-like clown character, igniting a wave of disapproval online as many called into question his sudden alliance with the former president.

As criticism flooded social media, Snoop showcased his unbothered demeanor by reposting a video from fellow performer Rick Ross, adding a playful tagline, “Got a real Crip up in the Crypto Ball, bang bang.” Dressed in sunglasses and flashing a peace sign, the rapper seemed indifferent to disparaging comments, which labeled him as a “traitor” for performing at a pro-Trump event.

Social media users voiced their discontent with comments like, “2pac always was right about Snoop Dogg, he always playing both sides for a check and some clout smh,” and “I have deleted all Snoop Dogg songs from my playlists… I will not listen to his music after I found out he will be there to perform for the traitors on Monday.” Another commenter expressed shock, stating, “Even Snoop Dogg bent knee to Donald Trump. Never thought I’d see that.”

And just for good measure, several folks reminded the Dogg Father of his own scathing and toxic comments about Trump back in the day, such as these gems:

Despite the uproar, supporters of Snoop, including conservative internet personality Bo Loudin, defended his decision, praising the rapper for aligning with Trump. Loudin shared a photo of himself with Snoop, donning a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat, captioning it, “President Trump is unifying the country and will bring us into the GOLDEN AGE! Welcome to MAGA, Snoop!”

The evening featured not only Snoop’s iconic hits but also a symbolic distribution of red ‘Make Bitcoin Great Again’ hats to attendees, as Snoop took on DJ duties alongside performances. In a lighter moment, he was captured enjoying Bob Marley’s music, singing along to “Three Little Birds” and its reassuring lyrics, “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing gonna be all right.”

Snoop’s appearance at the ‘Crypto Ball’ reflects a broader trend of public figures reassessing their relationships with the incoming administration. His performance comes as Trump prepares to officially take office again, and a growing list of celebrities seem to look past previous criticisms, indicating a potential shift in political affiliations within the entertainment industry. As the event wrapped up, tickets priced between $2,500 and $5,000 allowed attendees to network with influential policymakers who could steer the future of cryptocurrency regulation in the United States.
