Simon Guobadia Breaks Silence After ICE Detention and Deportation
*Simon Guobadia, the ex-husband of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams, has finally spoken out after being deported. The businessman spent four months in an ICE detention facility before being sent back to Nigeria.
Despite his experience, Guobadia says he holds no bitterness toward the U.S. government or President Donald Trump. His comments have surprised many, especially given the harsh conditions he described during his detainment.
Guobadia Praises Trump: “We’re Both Geminis”
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Guobadia compared himself to Trump, saying they are both misunderstood. “Donny, like I refer to him, we are very similar. We’re both Geminis, and some of his antics – I certainly can understand it. Sometimes [I would] say that we are misunderstood.”
Guobadia also said he feels no anger toward Trump’s immigration policies. “I don’t have any problems with Donald Trump like any other CEO or chief executive, who I am.” He even expressed hope to speak with the former president one day.
Detention Conditions Were Harsh, Says Simon Guobadia
Guobadia was taken into custody in February after arriving in the U.S. He spent time isolated and described the facility as overcrowded and poorly staffed. “I understood why people would kill themselves, but I’m too strong to do that,” he shared. He called the food “terrible” and said detainees were left in limbo, with no updates on their cases. He found out about his release only two weeks before being deported.

Guobadia Says He Won’t Fight to Return to America
Although he isn’t actively seeking a way back into the U.S., Guobadia said he wouldn’t turn down the opportunity if it came. For now, he’s focused on the future and finding peace post-deportation.
He believes he has valuable insights from his experience that could help U.S. immigration policies. “There are so many things that I saw that I feel that I can help the administration with,” he said.
Reaction to Guobadia’s Comments Sparks Online Outrage
Guobadia’s statements have gone viral, with many fans and social media users criticizing his support for Trump. On Lipstick Alley, users slammed his praise of the former president and his calm stance after such a traumatic experience.
- “You don’t have any animosity for the white man that had your jug headed ass in a detention center?”
- “He needs to focus on preserving whatever is left of his dignity.”
Despite the backlash, Guobadia appears unfazed. He maintains that peaceful protests and reform are important, but he doesn’t view his situation as a personal attack.
Guobadia Supports Peaceful Protests, Calls for Reform
When asked about protests against ICE, Guobadia said he sees nothing wrong with peaceful demonstrations. “Protest is normal, is encouraged … as long as it results in reforms.”
He believes that while immigration enforcement is necessary, certain parts of the system need change. His experience has pushed him to advocate for those stuck in legal limbo without updates or proper care.
Why Simon Guobadia’s Story Matters
Guobadia’s case sheds light on the complex reality of immigration in the U.S. His ability to stay composed, even after a tough ordeal, has surprised many. But his pro-Trump comments continue to divide public opinion.
As debates over ICE and immigration grow louder, Guobadia’s voice adds a new perspective to the national conversation—one that’s controversial but impossible to ignore.
