*Janice Turner, mother of recording artist Sean Kingston, will not be sentenced alongside her son in their federal fraud case, despite her formal request to do so.
According to All Hip Hop, U.S. District Judge David S. Leibowitz denied Turner’s motion to reschedule her sentencing for August 15, coinciding with Kingston’s court appearance. The court kept her original July 11 sentencing date at 9 a.m.
Turner, 61, and Kingston were convicted on March 28, 2025, for orchestrating a scheme that defrauded vendors of high-end items, including a $285,000 jewelry order, a $160,000 bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, an $86,000 custom bed, and a $150,000 home theater system falsely linked to Justin Bieber.
The duo also swindled over $300,000 from banks using forged documents and fake wire transfers between April 2023 and March 2024. Kingston leveraged his celebrity status to gain vendors’ trust, while Turner managed logistics and sent fraudulent payment confirmations.
Following their conviction, Turner was detained due to a prior 2006 bank fraud conviction, while Kingston remains under house arrest with an ankle monitor. Both face up to 20 years in prison on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple wire fraud counts. Despite pleading not guilty and requesting a jury trial, their $900,000 bond remains unchanged.

Kingston’s attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, stated, “Once the true facts come out we are confident of vindication.”
However, the court’s decision to separate the sentencing dates underscores the gravity of the charges against the mother-son pair, who allegedly used Kingston’s fame to manipulate vendors into relinquishing luxury goods without payment.
As Turner’s July 11 sentencing approaches, the case continues to highlight the consequences of exploiting celebrity influence for fraudulent gain.
