*When Jamie Foxx attended the Golden Globes Sunday, he chatted with reporters about his life-threatening experience with a brain bleed and stroke.
Speaking on the red carpet, the comedian shared that one of his nurses in Atlanta told him about the low survival rate associated with his condition, Ace Showbiz reports.
“She said, ‘Jamie, you’re a five-percenter,’ ” he recalled. “Less than 5 percent of people with what you have walk out of here alive. But when I saw that it was you, I rolled my sleeves up.’ I was very scared,” he admitted.
Foxx was humbled by the nurse’s remarks but the healthcare provider made clear that she goes above and beyond for all her patients.
“She said, ‘Why are you thanking me? You’re not special. I roll my sleeves up for everybody that comes in here,’ ” he recounted her response.

Foxx suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke in 2023 and spent 20 days in a coma. “When tragedy happens, you need somebody there that really loves you. My daughters stepped up,” he said.
As we reported earlier, in his recently released Netflix special titled “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was,” the 55-year-old actor opened up about his stroke and recovery. Foxx’s ordeal began on April 11, 2023, when he suddenly faced a severe headache that left him incapacitated.
“April 11, I was having a bad headache and I asked my boy for an aspirin. And I realized quickly that when you’re in a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what the f**k to do,” he said. “Before I could get the aspirin I went out,” he said. “I don’t remember 20 days.”
Foxx explained his reluctance to share details of his medical setback, stating, “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie or television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”
At the Golden Globe, he told reporters: “I’m lucky to be alive.”
