Usher Slams Report That He ‘Almost Thanked the Devil’ At NAACP Image Awards

*Usher responded to an Instagram user who said the singer “almost thanked the devil” during his acceptance speech at the NAACP Image Awards.

Mark Hanalla posted a clip showing the R&B crooner stumbling over his words after accepting the President’s Award. The caption read, “Did #Usher almost just thank the #Devil for his #NAACP award? 🤨💡”

As Ice Cream Convos reports, Usher responded with a lengthy comment on social media, telling Hanalla: “Get the hell outta here!!! GOD is my lord and savior … the DEVIL is a lie!! You got me f—ed up!!”

The post continued, “Not today sir…I never have time for this type s— but today, you gon hear this. So I was a bit nervous and jumbled my words when speaking from my heart…hate teleprompters and they started to rush me because I was getting a bit long winded…. everybody gets nervous, especially in this position.” Usher wrote. 

He added, “I was thanking the N Double A C P and shift to the depths of my soul… when my words got mixed. The devil is always at work…don’t let him use my boy. You terrible for even tryna to share this.”

In related news, Usher extended the European dates for his upcoming USHER: Past Present Future tour.

The move comes weeks after the R&B superstar extended his North American dates to almost 60 sold-out nights, adding multiple shows, according to the press release.

Six dates were initially announced for London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. Six more were added after 170,000 fans bought tickets for 12 sold-out shows, per the release. 

Tickets are on sale for all dates on Usher’s tour. 

In a statement, Usher said, “It’s been a minute, Europe! I’m as hyped as you are to be back. The love for these shows has been incredible, and I’m truly blessed and thankful for each and every one of you. Seven epic nights in London, four in Amsterdam, two in Paris and Berlin and counting… get ready for an A-TOWN takeover!”
