*In a fiery press conference held at his Mar-a-Lago residence on Thursday, former President Donald Trump launched a series of critiques against Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump, 78, asserted that Harris, 59, was selected for her position based on “politically correct” reasons rather than merit, labeling her the “most unpopular vice president.”
Trump also attacked Harris’ limited media appearances since assuming her role.
“She hasn’t done an interview. She can’t do an interview,” he said. “But I look forward to the debates.”
Trump announced his willingness to face off against Harris in three debates, proposing dates and networks: Fox News on September 4, NBC on September 10, and ABC on September 25. However, as of this posting, Harris has not responded.

The former president didn’t spare Harris when it came to her past electoral history and her relationship with President Joe Biden.
“She became the Democratic presidential nominee because of political reasons, or because of being politically correct, even though she never received a vote,” Trump remarked, referencing the 2020 primaries where Harris and Biden were rivals. Trump claimed Harris had been “nasty” to Biden during their primary face-offs, notably calling him a racist.
Trump also touched upon the controversy surrounding Biden’s transition of power. “The presidency was taken away from Joe Biden, and I’m no Biden fan, but…they took the presidency away, and people were saying he lost after the debate, he couldn’t win,” Trump stated. He suggested Biden was coerced into stepping aside using the 25th Amendment, which led to his endorsement of Harris.
When questioned about Harris’ recent high-energy rallies in Philadelphia, Wisconsin, and Detroit, Trump was quick to downplay their significance. He claimed his own rallies, drawing tens of thousands, far outshone Harris’ events.
“Nobody says about crowd size with me. But she has 1,000 people or 1,500 people and they say, ‘Oh, the enthusiasm is back.’ No, no, the enthusiasm is with me and the Republican Party,” Trump maintained.
Reflecting on the upcoming presidential debates, Trump asserted his confidence, despite his previous withdrawal from an agreed-upon ABC debate due to ongoing litigation with the network.
“I am prepared for these debates and ready to highlight the real issues facing Americans. I know the people will see the difference in leadership between us,” Trump declared.
Furthermore, Trump dismissed suggestions that his previous supporters’ actions — including the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021 — would impact a peaceful transition of power if needed.
“Of course, there’ll be a peaceful transfer, and there was last time,” he said, countering the widely documented violence and chaos that ensued.
Expanding his critique of Harris’ capabilities, Trump added: “She’s not doing a news conference. You know why? She’s not doing it because she can’t do a news conference. She doesn’t know how to do a news conference. She’s not smart enough to do a news conference. And I’m sorry, we need smart people to lead this country because our country has never been in this danger before, both economically and from an outside perspective.”
As the political battle heats up, Trump’s remarks signal an intense campaign period ahead, marked by sharp attacks and high-stakes debates. Whether Harris will respond directly to Trump’s challenges remains to be seen, but the upcoming events are poised to significantly shape the political landscape.
