*British-Nigerian duo Sons of Sonix are set to release their new EP, “Time Zones & Tylenol,” a creative blend of Afrobeats, Hip Hop, and R&B that showcases their distinct sound.

The EP, which highlights their latest single “ALAFIA,” was officially released on July 24, 2024, on all major streaming platforms.

Sons of Sonix, consisting of Mikey Akin and Moses Samuels, have long been a force in the music industry, known for their work with top artists like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Stormzy, and JLO. Over the past 13 years, they’ve established themselves as influential record producers, and their transition to creating their music has been met with enthusiasm.

Their new single, “ALAFIA,” stands out as a dynamic mix of Afro-house and Amapiano beats, featuring the harmonious vocals of Me.Tai. This track is a modern reinterpretation of Brandy’s 2002 hit “Full Moon,” with the original producer Mike City collaborating on the song by reimagining the beat.

The term “ALAFIA” means good health or peace in Yoruba, reflecting the song’s theme of overcoming challenges and finding inner tranquility.

Sons of Sonix expressed their excitement about collaborating with Mike City and debuting Me. Tai, highlighting the track’s blend of nostalgia and innovation.

“ALAFIA is a Yoruba word that essentially means peace. This is a song for the listener to be encouraged that regardless of the outside elements, you can find peace within yourself. Sampling the iconic R&B record ‘Full Moon’ by Brandy, the collaboration with the original producer Mike City was nothing but a blessing, co-signing the debut of our leading artist Me. Tai,” said Mikey Akin, one-half of Sons of Sonix.

Their upcoming EP, “Time Zones & Tylenol”, scheduled for release on August 7th, explores themes of travel, heritage, and success. This much-anticipated EP features a range of talented musicians and vocalists, including British R&B starlet Bellah, who is currently one of Spotify’s R&B Rising Artists to Watch in 2024, Norwegian-Ivorian duo Nico and Vinz, Afrobeats singer Teni the Entertainer, Nigerian vocalist Seyi Shay, and iconic UK rapper Chip.

“Time Zones & Tylenol” brings together various corners of the globe, bridging the gap between the duo’s time spent across LA, London, and Lagos.

“This project is a collection of our musical journey, and that includes different genres. With “Time Zones & Tylenol” we wanted to have a range of artists from different time zones that can resonate with our audience while allowing them to explore fresh sounds from these genres,” said Moses Samuels, the other half of Sons of Sonix.

Sons of Sonix’s new work reflects their dedication to evolving their sound while maintaining the high standards they are known for. Fans of Afrobeats and R&B can look forward to a fresh and engaging listening experience with this latest release.
