*Max on Thursday revealed the official trailer for its upcoming prequel series “Dune: Prophecy” and set to premiere in November
Per Deadline: “The series takes place 10,000 years before the ascension of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides in the Denis Villeneuve-directed movies. It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. They’re Jedi-like sisters types in the Frank Herbert novels to you Star Wars folks out there,” the outlet writes.

“Dune: Prophecy” will be six episodes and is set for a theatrical premiere in New York City on October 30.
During the film’s New York Comic Con panel on Oct. 17, series star Emily Watson said, “What was really delicious to me as an actor about coming into this world was that these women are from a truly, truly, recognizably messed-up family. They’ve had an awful childhood and it’s sort of propelled them away. And nothing, nothing in this world is good and bad; everything is compromised and strange, and yet what Valya Harkonnen sets her sights on is really determining the right path for humankind. That’s her ambition.”
Executive producer Alison Schapker added: “One of the great things about this series is we certainly don’t want to take away their mystique, but we do go behind their closed doors and kind of see how they operate.”
Schapker also noted that Villeneueve’s two Dune movies “… set such a high bar and I think really unlocked Dune for many people,” she said, adding, “and just invigorated the entire — I don’t even want to call it a franchise. … And we definitely felt like we wanted to just strive in every way to be worthy of holding down a different corner of the Dune universe, [so] that fans who engage with the films and loved the films would feel that they were seeing a different part of the story that could also speak to the films. So we love what Denis did, and we tried very hard to do our best and live up to what he claimed.”
“Dune: Prophecy” will debut on MAX on November 17.
