*Snoop Dogg will star in and co-produce Luc Besson’s upcoming sci-fi film, “The Last Man,” which is believed to be inspired by “Planet of the Apes” and possibly linked to Dogg’s 2009 song “Last Man Standing.”
The film’s post-apocalyptic storyline remains under wraps, but it is written by Besson. This marks a reunion for Dogg and Besson, who previously collaborated nearly 20 years ago on the animated film “Arthur and the Minimoys,” where the rapper voiced a main character.
“I’ve been a big fan of Snoop Dogg’s music ever since ‘Who Am I,’” said Besson, per Variety.
“We first met 20 years ago, and we’ve always wanted to work together again. We just needed the right project that would excite us both — and this is it, with Snoop in the lead role. I can’t wait to get started!”
Besson will produce the movie with his wife Virginie Besson-Silla for EuropaCorp. Filming will begin in 2025.

“Ever since I’ve seen The Professional, I’ve always wanted [Luc] to direct a whole movie for me,” said Snoop. “Now we finally get the opportunity for him to write and direct me in a Luc Besson movie.”
Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have joined forces again to release their highly anticipated new album “Missionary” and a short film to accompany it (watch it below).
The project, produced by Dr.Dre via Death Row, Aftermath, and Interscope, marks another milestone in their iconic careers. Per the press release, the album features Sting on the “Message in a Bottle”-sampling “Another Part of Me” showcasing both Snoop’s rugged flow and mellifluous singing voice, while “Last Dance With Mary Jane” features the voice and harmonica of the late Tom Petty in Snoop’s heartfelt ode to weed with Jelly Roll.
“Missionary” is packed with special guests, including Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, BJ the Chicago Kid, Alus, K.A.A.N., Smitty, and Cocoa Sarai. The album marks the first collaborative effort from Snoop and Dre since Snoop’s 1993 debut album “Doggystyle.”
