*K.C. Amos, the son of late actor John Amos, has addressed his sister Shannon Amos’ accusations surrounding their father’s death in August.
Shannon’s attorney, James H. Davis III, revealed on December 25 that she has enlisted legal counsel to investigate John’s passing, alleging K.C. of elder abuse.
“The family deserves to know the full circumstances surrounding Mr. Amos’ care and the events that led to his passing. We are committed to pursuing all available avenues to ensure that these questions are answered,” her attorney, James H. Davis III, Esq. said in a statement, TMZ reports.
“Ms. Amos and her legal team emphasize the importance of transparency in healthcare and the rights of families to access critical medical information. The investigation will continue to seek answers and accountability in this deeply personal and significant matter.”
Shannon is investigating details surrounding her father’s admission to Centinela Hospital in Los Angeles. She questions why someone impersonated her during his arrival and is seeking clarity about his health condition at the time. Earlier this year, she filed a complaint with Adult Protective Services, accusing K.C. of elder abuse, and she’s trying to find out if the agency pursued an investigation. Shannon’s legal team claims she has struggled to obtain John’s medical records despite multiple requests.

Meanwhile, K.C. is pushing back against his sister’s actions, telling PEOPLE that his father “wanted to go to Centinela because he trusted them and they were the nearest hospital.”
He also claims the “Good Times” star lived a happy life until his death on Aug. 21 from congestive heart failure.
“There was a discussion of contacting other family members and Pops said not to contact anyone and I honored his request,” K.C. continued.
“Let me be clear and transparent. There has been no physical, financial, emotional, psychological elder abuse or neglect committed against my father by me, Gene Brummett or Belinda Foster (who was John’s assistant for more than 30 years),” he continued, per PEOPLE. “This has been documented by an independent investigation by Homeland Security Services, Inc, Adult Protective Services, and other law enforcement agencies. The reality is that he passed of natural causes at the age of 84 years old. Stop making it more than what it is.”
K.C.’s defense investigator Kevin Faler has been working on “a comprehensive two-year investigation into allegations of both criminal and civil wrongdoing” for two years, he told PEOPLE.

“This investigation encompasses a detailed examination of financial discrepancies, including the trail of John Amos’ missing money and stolen belongings valued in the millions of dollars in Colorado, as well as connected incidents in Memphis, New Jersey, and Los Angeles,” Faler added.
“There is no merit to the criminal charges levied against KC Amos in the State of New Jersey as any and all charges have been dismissed,” he continued.
“The current allegations regarding foul play and elder abuse are frivolous,” Faler, who serves as Vice President of Operations at Homeland Security Services, Inc., said. “John Amos was happy working and spending time with [K.C., Gene and Belinda] writing, producing, and praying with them as a family and as his team. John passed from natural causes at the age of 84 years old. There was no foul play.”
