*Jamie Foxx turned to Instagram on Sunday to promote his upcoming Netflix special, “What Happened Was,” which drops on December 10.
“Cannot say it enough that I am blessed to be able to tell my story in my own way so many people to thank so many people have prayed…,” Foxx wrote in the caption, The Blast reports.
“A big shout out to Atlanta you showed up and showed out made me feel at home made me feel safe after 18 years of not being on stage you made it feel like it was just yesterday… can’t wait for everyone to experience the vibe that we had,” he added.
Foxx said filming the special “was like going to church.”
He added, “…we laughed… we had a few tears… but last, but not least, we celebrated life… and second chances… cannot wait.”
We reported earlier that during the taping of the special, Foxx addressed his mysterious health scare last year, suggesting a connection to disgraced music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
According to videographer Choke No Joke, who attended two of the three shows held on October 4, 5, and 6 at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre, the comedian said Diddy was responsible for his hospitalization.
“Diddy was responsible for what happened to him, and [Foxx] is the one who called the FBI on [Combs],” Choke claimed in a Comedy Hype YouTube video.
Per The Blast, a source close to Combs denied the claims, telling the Daily Mail that “there is no truth to Sean Combs putting Jamie Foxx in the hospital.”
Foxx was hospitalized in Atlanta due to a “medical complication,” according to his daughter Corinne. After a month-long stay, he was discharged but has shared few details about the 2023 incident.
“It was an excruciating time, opening those wounds every single day,” Foxx told CBS Mornings host Gayle King backstage at the taping of his Netflix special, referring to using his health crisis as material for his new stand-up shows, Mens Journal reports.
“It was excruciating because the worry is what gets you,” he continued. “We’ve got a great show in the room, but we don’t know what they may laugh at or what they may not laugh at. Any comedian will tell you that’s the thing, the worry is the thing.”
