*Young Sixx had the clubs jumping with his latest single “Hot Gyrl” and he’s ready to take his career to new heights. Shortly after birth, Young Sixx would move to Nuernberg, Germany where he would remain until his return to the states in 2017.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Young Sixx and he spoke about his career journey and the inspiration behind his stage name.

“Young, being the spirit of life I always want to keep the young spirit in my music,” Young Sixx said. “Sixx comes from God working six whole days creating the Heavens and the Earth before resting on the seventh [day].

“Those six whole days represent the hard work that I do within my career and myself,” he added.

Fans will notice that the “Sixx” in his name is stylized with an extra “x” which he says is “just to make it different.”

As far as his journey into hip-hop music, Young Sixx says his upbringing overseas heavily influenced his decision to get into the industry.

“When you’re in Germany you can go to clubs at young ages,” Young Sixx explained. “So I was at a club and there were some soldiers performing there and I saw them on stage and they were rapping and I felt like I could do that too. Afterward, we got into a little battle rap and ever since then I picked up music and I just kind of ran with it.”

After touching back down in the United States in 2017, Young Sixx hit the ground running, starting in Atlanta before ultimately making his way back to California.

With many accomplishments under his belt, including performing in five of the seven continents, one of Young Sixx’s highlight moments was when he performed in Sudan Africa, as part of Hennessy’s Artistry Tour which took place in Malaysia.

“I was the first independent artist to ever perform there,” Young Sixx said. “I brought Cassidy along. We went over there and performed for the Sudanese people and it was an eye-awakening thing because if you don’t go to places you’ll only know what they allow you to see through TV and through propaganda.”

Young Sixx describes his sound as “unpredictable.”

“I believe my music is like water,” Young Sixx said. “It can fit into any and everything. Depending on what the beat is telling me at the moment, I can definitely write to it.”

In order to get a true understanding of his relentless hustle, Young Sixx suggests checking out his song “Sacrifice and Risk” on streaming services.

When it comes to musical influences, Young Sixx listed Eminem, Jay-Z, and Fabolous as three of his favorite artists.

“Listening to Eminem in Germany, … I felt like Eminem was the white guy in Hip-Hop that was doing it in his own way,” Young Sixx said. “Being in Germany when everyone is speaking German and me not rapping in German, I was the black Eminem over there.”

Young Sixx says he has one major goal this year. “My biggest goal is to become a household name inside of California but inside of California,” he said.

“In California, we have a lot of artists here but they’re LA famous. I don’t want my music to just be popular in LA. I want to get that same feeling, that same notoriety and that same name that I had in Germany. I want to build that name and bring it back to where I can travel to each and every market and still do my music.”

Fans can expect more music from Young Sixx coming very soon.

“Right now, I’m working on two singles,” he said. “One single, It’s called “Sucker Free”, It’s more of that boss-up vibe. The follow-up single, hopefully, I’ll have a little surprise with that. … It’ll be something generated for the ladies.”
