Tyler Lepley on Love Being Enough in Season 2 of ‘Harlem’ | EUR Exclusive

*The hit Prime Video comedy “Harlem” has returned for its second season. The series stars Megan Good as “Camille,” a quirky college professor balancing her career, good friends, and a complicated love life.

In season one, Camille grappled with her feelings for her engaged ex, Ian (Tyler Lepley.) This season we see the fallout from that admission. Lepley spoke exclusively with EURweb about what to expect from Ian in season two. The actor said Ian’s biggest obstacle is figuring out who he really is, and what he stands for.

“He needs to be responsible enough to grow into the man he’s becoming. In season one, he has high hopes for everything he’s feeling and thinking. But not necessarily at a realistic level,” Lepley explained. “He wants to rekindle his old flame, but what does that mean for his current situation?”

He added, “I he going to blow his whole home life up? He’s got this idea that he wanted to bring a piece of Paris home to Harlem and introduce this fine French cuisine. It’s great in theory, but what does that mean when your entire family and community feel like you are part of the gentrification problem? Dealing with that and being responsible helps him grow into a man.”

Ian is faced with answering the question, Is love enough?

“It’s easy to say that love is enough, but in my opinion, I would say that in terms of what Ian is going through, love isn’t enough. He’s getting love from his fiancee, but it isn’t enough,” said Lepley. “He’s getting love from Camille. As he returned to this old flame, it still wasn’t enough, so I feel like there are scenarios where he’s got to figure himself out before he really feels like he’s enough.

He adds: “Because I truly feel like, if we’re not right, within ourselves, mind, body, and spirit, we’re not going to be right for anybody else, regardless of what they’re given us.”
