The Emmy winner cogently replied, “Do I like myself?” Brunson’s straightforward yet impactful inquiry makes us consider how our society always comes up with devices to question a woman’s worth. As the adage goes, “in a society that profits from your self-doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act.”

White women on TikTok are having a nervous and emotional breakdown because Black women created a trend called the #blackgirlfollowtrain, in which Black women follow one another on the app to build community and sisterhood. Somehow, yt women can’t deal, and they feel that the trend is racist. Our question is, tell us when White women were champions against the mistreatment of Black women in this society. Tell us when White women have made a concerted effort to include Black women in their exclusive clubs and associations, provide aid in gainful employment, serve justice on behalf, show care for our well-being, provide us education, or assist in our lives in general. Cry us a river Karens and go boo-hoo on another app if you can’t deal.

Dionne Warwick staged an intervention with some famous rappers, including Snoop Dogg, to have a come to Jesus moment about their misogynistic lyrics, she revealed in her documentary. You have to respect the elders for gathering them together; we need more people like our internet Auntie to call out wrongs.

IG influencer Lynae Vanee is known for her “Parking Lot Pimpin” viral series, where she provides expert commentary on pop culture, the Black community, and politics, and ends each of her segments with her tagline “Imma keep it Black, but Imma keep it brief” shouted out to MLK Jr. and the day we celebrate his legacy. What have you done or intend to do that will continue to live out Brother Martin’s dream of equality and quest for civil rights?
