*The daughter of Martin Luther King Jr. is speaking out after comedian Amy Schumer posted a video of MKL denouncing antisemitism.
In the clip, the late civil rights activist can be heard saying: “Israel must exist and has a right to exist and is one of the great outposts of democracy in the world.” In another clip, King calls antisemitism “unjust” and “evil.”
As NBC News reports, Bernice King offered clarity on what her father’s position would be on the current Hamas-Israel conflict.
“Amy: Certainly, my father was against antisemitism, as am I,” Bernice King wrote on the social media platform X. “He also believed militarism (along with racism and poverty) to be among the interconnected Triple Evils. I am certain he would call for Israel’s bombing of Palestinians to cease, for hostages to be released and for us to work for true peace, which includes justice.”
She continued: “He said, ‘Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.’ We have much to correct.”

Bernice encouraged Schumer to read her father’s book “Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?” She also shared a clip of MLK talking about withdrawing from the Vietnam War.
Schumer has been showing her support for Israel online amid the conflict with Hamas.
“I mourn with all who are mourning,” Bernice King wrote. “I know that we can’t afford to diminish & dehumanize each other if we are truly committed to ridding humanity of the Triple Evils & to freedom from oppression for all.”
Meanwhile, Schumer was accused of “harassing” biracial actress and content creator Asia Jackson in a series of private messages on Instagram over Jackson’s opposing views on the Israeli-Palestinian war.
Jackson hit up the X platform to react to Gigi and Bella Hadid’s public statements regarding the war, as their father is Palestinian.
“It’s so crazy to me how Bella & Gigi had to tiptoe around their statements and then Amy Schumer is like ‘Gazans are rapists’ and will still have a career,” Jackson wrote. She later shared screenshots of the DM’s she received from Schumer in response to her statement, Newsweek reports.
“Did something I post about my people being massacred upset you?” Schumer wrote to Jackson in a direct message.
“The Islamophobia and generalization of Gazan people did,” Jackson responded.
“People all over the world are in the streets yelling for the murder of my people,” Schumer wrote. “You are not educated about the history of the Jewish people and of the conflict.
“Thanks for expressing what you were upset about. [I’d] like to express that [I] think you are antisemitic. Do you have any Jewish friends? If you do they are all scared right now. Frightened for their children for their lives.”
“Is there a good Wendy clip for that,” Schumer added, referring to TV personality Wendy Williams.

We’ve been known Amy Schumer was anti-black when she said she was “afraid” when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Now she’s again weaponizing her white woman tears, going after a black femme. You’re not going to shame bipoc into ignoring the genocide on Palestinians by Zionist https://t.co/zVsOVZfaRR
