*Marvel has dropped the first trailer for the new series “Secret Invasion” starring Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, Ben Mendelsohn, and Emilia Clarke.
The series finds Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury but won’t feature any of Fury’s Avengers.
“We don’t know who’s a friend, who’s the enemy,” Jackson told Vanity Fair about the upcoming series. “There’s a political aspect that kind of fits into where we are right now: Who’s okay? Who’s not? What happens when people get afraid and don’t understand other people? You can’t tell who’s innocent and who’s guilty in this particular instance.”
“What he’s not doing is calling in his super friends. So that’s part of the whole dilemma,” Jackson shared. “I mean, people want them and he’s not bringing them.

In the same interview, Mendelsohn, who reprises his role of Talos, touched on the Skrulls versus humans plot.
“I think any time that you get cultures that have significant tensions between groups of people, then you can find a corollary,” he shared. “The Cold War stuff is the big one that jumps out, but there is plenty of strife between groups of people that this addresses.”
Added Jackson, “Nick had a whole Skrull spy network because they could shape-shift and go places that people couldn’t go. They kept their word. They worked for him, but he hasn’t done what he said he was going to do. They want a home. They want to live. They want to live like they are. They want to live in their skin. They don’t want to live in ours.”
“Secret Invasion” drops June 21st on Disney+.
