*We caught up with boyband icon Joey McIntyre to dish about his dark new role on the new Lifetime limited series V.C. Andrews’ “Dawn” – inspired by the bestselling author’s Dawn Cutler series of novels.
According to the press release: “Each part of the new four-chapter limited series focuses on one of Andrews’ Dawn Cutler novels, including Dawn, Secrets of the Morning, Twilight’s Child, and Midnight Whispers, and delves into the dark and twisted histories of the Cutler, Booth and Longchamp families. Brec Bassinger (Stargirl) takes on the title role of Dawn Longchamp with Emmy winner Donna Mills as the villain Lillian Cutler.
“As Dawn struggles to fit in, her wicked grandmother Lillian Cutler rules her life with an iron fist and inflicts cruel punishments when Dawn does not follow her strict orders,” the network shared in a new release when the series was first announced, People reports. “As Dawn finds herself entrenched in the mysteries surrounding the family, it becomes clear that a dark and inescapable curse looms over the Cutlers.”
As TV Line reports, Mills, famously known for starring on CBS’s primetime soap “Knots Landing” for nine seasons, said “People say to me, ‘You’re used to playing the bad girl because you played Abby.’ And I say, ‘Lillian is way badder!’”
During a recent virtual press conference, Mills said, “Lillian is who she is. The wonderful thing, though, was that there is another book [prequel Darkest Hour] and that book is about Lillian and why she is the way she is and so I had that background to draw on.”
The four-part movie series “Dawn” premiered on Saturday, July 8, and also stars Joey McIntyre (New Kids on the Block) as Michael Sutton; Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives) as Ormand Longchamp; Khobe Clarke (Yellowjackets) as Jimmy Longchamp; and Emmy nominee Fran Drescher as Agnes Morris.
