Jay-Z Reacts to ‘Scrutiny’ Daughter Blue Ivy, 11, Faces | Watch

*In a new interview with Gayle King for “CBS Mornings,” JAY-Z spoke candidly about the constant criticism his and Beyoncé’s oldest daughter, Blue Ivy, is subjected to.

“With Blue, what makes me super like, proud and like, you know, I still get goosebumps seeing her walk on stage is ’cause Blue’s been born into a life she didn’t ask for,” he said of Blue joining Queen Bey on stage during the “Renaissance” tour, Page Six reports.

“So, since she’s been born — she’s been in like, scrutiny and [the] public eye and everyone having an opinion. You know, even a little girl and how she keeps her hair,” JAY-Z added.

The father of three said Blue was able to “reclaim her power” by performing “My Power” alongside her superstar mom on tour.

“And then watching her grow in it. You know, she came out — 80,000 people — she’s 11, so she’s nervous,” he continued.

When King said Blue “didn’t look nervous,” during the tour, Jigga replied, “I know her, so I know how nervous she was. I know how frightened she was.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, the Grammy-winning rapper, 53, said Blue relies on her parents for fashion advice.

“She used to be frontin’ on me a little bit,” JAY-Z told King. “But [now] I catch her. I catch her in the corner, you know? Now she asks me, you know, if this is cool, if her sneakers [are cool].”

The rapper and his wife of 15 years also share twins Rumi and Sir, 6. Jay told King that his eldest daughter’s name wasn’t initially going to be Blue Ivy.

“It was supposed to be Brooklyn,” he shared, People reports. “We was calling her Blueberry. Like, ‘Look at the little blueberry.’ You know, it was like a nickname. It was just natural. We just took the berry off and called her Blue.”
