*Gary Owen’s ex-wife took to social media to respond to his latest comments about not seeing his kids in nearly three years.
“As a lot of people know I haven’t seen my kids in almost 3 years, or spoken to them, since the divorce…I understand they’re just, I guess healing…I try to reach out, I try to see them, but it just hasn’t worked out yet,” Owen said during a recent episode of his podcast, according to The Jasmine Brand.
The comedian’s ex-wife, Kenya Duke, reacted in a post online, claiming Gary is only telling part of the truth to gain sympathy.
“All kids want their parents to be happy. When you come to the internet and tell only half the story for sympathy…So what did you do??? How did y’all get here?” she wrote.
“If you wanted healing, you would have reached out to a family therapist, call, text, or sent this video directly to them,” Duke added, The Jasmine Brand reports.
“You don’t seem to have any empathy for their feelings. You have done some foul things, but I still greet you with a smile. In conversation, I try to keep us focus and on track, so we don’t resort to blame and finger pointing,” she continued.
“I remind them of your birthday and Father’s Day. I encourage them to give you a 2nd chance. I share info with you about them because I would hope that, if the tables were turned you’d do the same. And then you come to the internet with a video of the result but not the reason,” Duke’s post read. “I just don’t understand, how this helped anything. At this point, I don’t know what to believe or how to deal with you.”
Duke previously said her ex-husband left her in financial ruin following their divorce.
As we reported previously, Kenya filed to divorce Owen in 2021. The ex-couple tied the knot in 2003 and are parents to Austin, 23, and Kennedy, 21.
“He was my best friend,” Duke told ESSENCE earlier this year. “I really thought we were going to do this life thing together, you know?”
“That’s why I was so shocked with how the divorce went down,” she said. “Even when I realized it was over, I thought we’d be able to sit across from each other and talk out how we were going to do this, together.”
Duke continued: “When the divorce came out, I pictured us in Starbucks—he loves coffee—and he’d say ‘okay, what do you need?’ ‘How should we go about getting it done?’ But that hasn’t been the case at all, especially with the money. Most of my heartache wasn’t the loss of the marriage—it was what I went through financially.”
When their separation was first made public, Duke took to social media to put Owen’s alleged mistress on blast amid rumors that she was pregnant.
