Fat Joe, Roc Nation and New York Residents Unite at Caesars Palace/Times Square | PICs

Roc Nation and collabs bid for a new state-of-the-art gaming facility in Times Square

*Roc Nation kicked off the first of two informative community events for local Manhattan Plaza and Hell’s Kitchen residents around Roc Nation’s collaborative bid for a new, state-of-the-art gaming facility in Times Square.

Officially catered by Melba’s, the restaurant took over the neighborhood venue, The Purple Tongue to provide free lunch and dinner meals to local attendees as a way to preview a taste of what the entertainment facility has to offer the neighborhood. Over lunch, guests were able to learn more about the bid’s extensive community programs powering the new project.

The 10-year plan will invest $206 million in an elaborate network of security, sanitation, traffic mitigation, and Broadway plans to revitalize the area and all of New York City. $10M will be dedicated to student debt relief in partnership with members of Actors’ Equity and Local 802 while $20M is committed to extending childcare to the Broadway labor force in partnership with Bright Horizons and Actors Equity.

Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, IMPACT Strategies CEO Angela Rye, and New York music artist Fat Joe were in attendance to connect with residents over the neighborhood plans.

“An interesting point to Roc Nation’s involvement in the bid,” Angela Rye reflects, “is there is an investment in daycare. There’s an investment in sanitation. Who doesn’t want more sanitation investment in New York? There’s an opportunity for job creation where there are 6,000 jobs and significant economic opportunity.”

The facility plans “are giving positions to people who look like us,” said Fat Joe. “That’s not what other people are offering.”

“One thing about Roc Nation and Jay-Z is we keep our word,” the rapper continued. “We are out here constantly giving back, showing New York we’re here for New York. Now is your time to have ownership, go somewhere, and feel like it’s yours. We’re homegrown, I don’t know what more you would want. We’re for the people.”

Roc Nation is founded by New Yorkers and entrepreneurs from Brooklyn and The Bronx that have established multiple businesses through hard work and commitment to the neighborhood – an ethos that lies at the heart of their bid. Roc Nation’s collaboration with Caesars Palace and SL Green points to a powerful economic engine that promises to bring business, customers, and much-needed revenue for the community, city and state.
