Malcolm Barrett and Cynthia Kaye McWilliams Star in Wild New Dark Comedy Series ‘Average Joe’ | EUR Exclusive

Deon Cole stars in Average Joe

*We caught up with Malcolm Barrett and Cynthia Kaye McWilliams to speak about their roles in the dark comedy “Average Joe,” starring Deon Cole and set to premiere June 26 on BET+.

Inspired by the life of creator Robb Cullen, “Average Joe” is an intense one-hour drama set in “The Hill” district of Pittsburgh. Blue-collar plumber, Joe Washington (Cole), discovers his recently deceased father lived a secret second life and stole millions of dollars from dangerous people just before he died,” per the synopsis. “Now those people think Joe knows where the money is. A bloody and violent confrontation triggers a chain of events that force Joe and his close-knit circle of family and friends out of their very average and mundane lives into a life-or-death race against time to find the truth and the millions.”

Cole also stars alongside Tammy TownsendMichael Trucco, Ashley Olivia Fisher, Pasha Lychnikoff, and Ashani Perkins.

McG serves as an executive producer on the series along with Robb Cullen, Eric Dean Seaton, Corey Marsh, Mary Viola, and Deb Evans. Check out the trailer below.

Together, we are assembling a dynamic cast to bring this gripping story to life at a level it deserves .”

In our exclusive video interview below, Malcolm and Cynthia explain why their characters will “ride or die” for Cole’s character, and what they’re most excited about viewers experiencing when this series debuts today.

As Deadline reports, “Townsend plays Angela Washington, Joe’s loving wife who suffers from a painful illness and Barrett portrays Leon Montgomery, one of Joe’s best friends,” the outlet writes.  Check out what the pair told us about the world of trouble that this friend group is led into by their pal Joe.

The BET+ Original new series of “Average Joe” debuts exclusively on BET+ on June 26, with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays.
