Creators Of New TV Series ‘School Spirits’ Talk About Show Inspo | WATCH

Paramount Plus is releasing a new original series this week.

“School Spirits” centers around a young high school student whose disappearance is a mystery. Maddie, played by Payton List, suddenly disappears and just about everyone is trying to solve this crime, including Maddie. This show is a who-done-it mystery with a twist.

Not only has Maddie disappeared but she has been killed and no one knows she’s dead yet except for Maddie. Yes, I said that correctly. Maddie is the only one that knows she’s dead because she is stuck in limbo until she can help those who are alive solve her murder. Maddie isn’t alone in her quest to find out what happened to her. While in this area of being in between life and death, she finds new friends who are in a similar situation. She meets Charley, Sarah, Wally, and a few others that help her adjust to this new “life” of hers.

We sat down with the show’s creators and producers to talk about their inspiration for “School Spirits.”

“Well, it’s going to sound a little dark. About 10 years ago Megan and I had a family tragedy that occurred,” said Nate Trinrud.

Nate and Megan Trinrud are the co-creators of the show. The tragedy was the unexpected death of their father. He and Megan both felt this sense of emptiness after their father’s death. Knowing they wanted a career in television they decided to use their tragedy to create art.

Showrunner and producer Oliver Goldstick shared what it was about this show that caught his attention.

“I was really smitten with the manuscript and the central character. I think the journey she was making as a teenager was relevant and resonant,” said Goldstick.

Watch this story unfold on Paramount Plus streaming on March 9th.
