*Chris Brown clapped back at Tinashe after she admitted in an interview that she didn’t want to work with him.
During an interview on the “Zach Sang Show,” Tinashe, who was previously signed to RCA Records, opened up about collaborating with fellow singers Brown and R. Kelly.
The R&B singer stated, “Especially when it comes to singles, for example — that song with Chris [Brown]. That was a song that we all wanted to be this big moment, this big single. So I feel like, in their mind, they were like, ‘You need the support.’ He was their biggest artist that they had on rhythmic radio at the time. To me, I was like, ‘Well, this is a pop song. So, I really don’t feel like we should put Chris on it.’ That doesn’t compute to me, but I don’t know.”
She added, “You think I wanted to (do those songs)? I literally block out that R. Kelly song from my mind: I forget that that even exists,” Tinashe told Sang. “That is so embarrassing. That is so unreal that I even have a song with R. Kelly.”
The artist admits that there was also a part of her that was willing to compromise with her former record label.

“There’s only so many times you can push back. There’s only so much that you can be like, ‘No, I’m not going to do this’ because you want to be successful as well,” Tinashe said, USA Today reports. “You want to put your music out. If this is the way that I’m going to be able to get my art out or my single out, then I’m just going to have to commit to this and convince myself that this is the right thing to do.”
When Brown caught wind of her comments, he responded on a post saying, “Name five Tinashe songs or die…. Everybody dead.”
He added, “What’s more embarrassing is that she worked with all these people, and not one of us could save her career.”
On X (formally known as Twitter), one person said of Brown’s response, “That man is 5 years away from 40 with 3 kids. He needs to stop at some point.”
One Tinashe fan said her “last album is better than anything ever dropped by the most overrated R&B artists, Mid Brown.”
