*Kiyan Anthony, NBA star Carmelo Anthony’s son, continues to shine brighter on the basketball court.
15-year-old Kiyan received a basketball scholarship to Syracuse University. Coincidentally, it is the same college his father Carmelo attended. The father won a national championship with the team in 2003.
Kiyan is currently ranked No. 62 nationally in the sophomore class of 2025. The 6-foot-3 star now plays at Christ the King High School in New York. Following the offer to attend Syracuse, he spoke with 247Sports, saying he considers it an honor to continue his father’s legacy.
“I went to a Syracuse football game against Florida State on Saturday so I was already speaking with the coaches, but when I heard they were going to offer me I was excited,” he said. “I’ve been waiting for this offer for a while and it meant a lot just because my dad went there and won a National Championship there. A lot of people were waiting for me to have this on my checklist. It means a lot to me to have a chance to continue the legacy.”
His mother, actress La La Anthony, took to Instagram to celebrate him. She shared a thread of photos of Kiyan and her posing with orange and blue Syracuse-themed balloons and called herself the “proudest mom on the planet.”

Kiyan revealed to 247Sports that he has been talking with Illinois a lot and is cool with Indiana head coach Mike Woodson. He added he hopes he can talk with the coach down the line because he used to coach his dad at the Knicks.
“I’m just keeping all my options open right now, ” Kiyan quipped. It remains to be seen if he will continue his famous dad’s legacy. For now, he says he is getting ready for the sophomore season.
“I want to show people how hard I’ve been working,” he said. “We have a lot of talent on the team so I want to show how we’ve all been in the gym practicing hard, getting each other better, and hopefully it pays off and we can win.”
He added, “Individually I’m working on my defense and rebounding the ball since I’m growing and getting longer. I want to be a shot-maker and a three-level scorer. I want to be able to go to the basket, shoot the mid-range, and hit the three throughout a game.”
